You said - Car / motor bike cruise activity on the A511 Ashby bypass and surrounding area continues to be a matter of concern.
We did - As a Neighbourhood Policing Area we have continued to target this location and regularly respond to calls of erratic / dangerous driving along that stretch of Road by persons involved in car cruise activity. We are dealing with those identified as involved accordingly.
We attend in response to calls from you for spontaneous incidents and we also monitor social media in advance to arrange our attendance on planned events.
We have held a public consultation meeting with local residents and key stakeholders to discuss the issue and agree reporting mechanisms and plans of action going forward.
One proposal is to put longer term measures in place so that there are clearly identified areas where this activity becomes a specified offence and so there are additional enforcement opportunities available to us to deter this from continuing. We are working with North West Leicestershire District Council on a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in order to achieve this.
You said – Reports of youths gathering on their bikes and causing anti-social behaviour in Ashby town centre are a concern. We have had lots of reports of people being ridden at by youths pulling wheelies and then swerving at the last moment to avoid them.
We did - Your local Ashby Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to take reports of anti-social behaviour in the town centre seriously.
Over recent months, officers and PCSOs have carried out regular high-visibility foot and mobile patrols across Market Street, North Street, South Street and the wider town centre. The majority of these patrols have passed without any issues being identified.
Where incidents have been reported, including concerns around groups of young people, inappropriate cycling and behaviour causing concern to members of the public, officers have engaged with those involved, provided advice and taken further action where appropriate.
We are also working closely with local schools to help identify young people believed to be involved in incidents of anti-social behaviour, allowing us to engage with them at an early stage and help prevent further incidents.
As part of our ongoing work, Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) have been offered to young people identified through repeated incidents, alongside offers of support from partner agencies. A further ABC is due to be issued, along with a warning letter to another individual.
We will continue to patrol the town centre, respond to concerns from residents and businesses, work with local schools and partner agencies, engage with young people and take proportionate action where required.
You Said - We have received an increase in the number of issues reported, associated with licensed premises in the area.
We will - We will work with partners in licensing and trading standards to conduct visits at those premises suspected of being involved in unlawful practices.
We will complete test purchase operations and offer education to licensed premises where appropriate and take enforcement action where necessary.
We will work with the local pubwatch and the Ashby Town Council to conduct operations and events in line with their Purple Flag accreditation especially in the lead up to the festive season.
